Gateway Care Village

Gateway Care Village

Replacing a brownfield site with a purpose-built care facility in Bradford.

When Anlaby Cleaning bought a brownfield site to develop Gateway Care Village, we were involved from the outset undertaking feasibility studies, and then through to full design of highway, drainage and the individual buildings.

As it was a brownfield site on a major traffic thoroughfare, we needed to apply to Bradford Council and Yorkshire Water to extinguish old roads and drainage systems. As well as upgrade dirt track roads.

As part of the highway design, we were responsible for the horizontal and vertical alignment design as well as the adoption agreements for Bradford Council. We produced full construction drawings and were involved throughout the construction phase.

The building construction varied between traditional and full steel frame. And, due to the mixed nature of the site, the foundation solutions varied from pile and ground beams to traditional mass concrete footings.

The site now consists of a large three-storey care home, a three-storey assisted living building and a ground floor coffee shop with meeting rooms housed above.
